Our customers sometimes ask me,
"Do you have jellyfishes there?"
My answer is "No".
I don't know why, but there is no jellyfish "Aurelia" here in Shirahama even after the middle of August.
But the other kind of jellyfish called "physalia" is driven by the strong south west wind to the sea in Izu peninsula once several years.
If you find out this blue jellyfish, don't touch it!
The water temperature is usually getting higher and higher this month, so why don't you come to Shirahama?

There are jellyfish thank you very much!! My dad got stung today!! Today is 26th august 2014. If you do happen to get stung by a jelly fish, use vinegar. It was a blue jellyfish.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your information. It would be a helpful for us, and we have to inform aobut it to our customers.
The jellyfish which I wrote on this blog is a kind of aurelia.
We basically don't have this kind of jellyfish in Shimoda.
But we also got an information about the blue one this summer. The blue jellyfish which you told us is physalia, I guess.
And this jellyfish was found out at around southern part of Izu peninsula after the middle of August this year.
This physalia usually doesn't live in the sea of Izu peninsula, but they are driven by the strong south west wind once several years.
Thank you very much for your comment again.
We will inform this usuful informtion to our customers.
