Have you ever seen this?
It's called "Tsukushi" in Japanese (Horsetail in English).
I took this photo in Minami-Izu town yesterday.
We Japanese feel a spring with this horsetail.
Yes, spring has come in Izu peninsula.
I show you today's Shirahama beach .......
It was yesterday afternoon.
When I was working in my office my daughter, Hikari came to my ofiice and said,
"Come on, dad! Hurry up!"
Before that my children, Akari, Hikari and Yuuki were playing together in a dinning room downstairs.
And I heard that Hikari said to my son Yuuki,
"Are you sleepy, Yuuki?"
So I knew why my daughter called me and I went to the dinning room with my camera soon ....
Have you ever seen "The Fireworks in Shirahama"?
It had been held on the second Saturday in every July until last year.
But the typhoon came to Shirahama directly last summer on second Saturday, so they had to change the date to August 26.
I don't know that's why, but the fireworks 2008 will take place on ......

This afternoon, when I went to Shimoda for shopping I went to the beach to take photos before that.
And when I was going to take a photo hanging my camera I noticed the sand around me.
Look at this photo!
As we had a strong wind today the wind made an art on the beach. .....
As my son, Yuuki wanted to go somewhere we went to the beach today.
Have you ever been to Sotoura Beach in Shimoda?
This beach is located between Shirahama and Shimoda town and it takes only 3 or 4 minutes by car from Sakuraya.
There is a parking lot in front of the beach and it is free except busy season, so it is very convnient to park and play on the beach.
In addition this beach is a big creek so they don't have big wave here.
It is very helpful for the children who don't like big wave.
We came back to Shirahama beach after that.....
Yesterday and today it have been sunny and beutiful day in Shirahama.
I can't believe that we had snow the day before yesterday here.
After I picked my daughter up on the way to home from school we went to the beach with my son, Yuuki.....
I was surprised very much and couldn't believe it today. We had a lot of snow here in Shirahama after many years!
When my children went to the school at around 7:00 am it was just cloudy, but it started to snow before 9:00 am and we had 3 or 5 cm snow at last.
It is amazing because even if they have snow in Amagi mountains in winter we have no snow here.....

Yesterday we had very strong and cold north wind, but today it was west wind and very warm here in Shirahama.
As they had good wave many surfers came to this beach.
According to the weather forcast it will be sunny all day tomorrow.
Our cumstomers will be able to have a good day, I think.
This afternoon I was going to Shimoda for shopping, and when I went to the Route 135 it was strong windy there.
Actually I wanted to the beach to take photos with my son, but I didn't do it because of sand.
In Shirahama when the wind is strong it brings sand over the fence like this photo.
When we have a north wind .....
Today when I came back from Shimoda to Sakuraya I found that something is flying around the Sakura tree next to the entrance of Sakuraya building.
Yes, that was "White-eye" (Mejiro in Japanese).
When the Sakura trees have the flowers this bird come to get its honey.
This bird makes us to feel the spring has come!
Yesterday when I went to Minami Izu-cho, Southern area in Izu peninsula I went to
Shimokamo-town where Sakura festival takes place this month, but they hadn't had many cherry blossoms there yet .......

Today my son and I went to the beach to fly a kite.
Actually we went to Shimoda town to buy a kite yesterday and had already gone to the beach to do it, but we didn't have enough wind to fly it.
But we had good wind for it today.

We could see a blue sea after a long time.
I think it had been cloudy and rainy these more than 10 days, so I feel happy to see it this afternoon.
"Yes, Shirahama beach and sea are really gorgeous!!"
I have been living here for 16 years but when I can see the blue sea like today it makes me very happy.
Izu Oshima island still has snow today.
When I took my daughter to her friend's house I went to the beach to take pictures.
It was very cold and almost cloudy in Shirahama today.
But when I was taking pictures the sun light came from the opening space of clouds.
As it was Saturday there were a lot of surfers on the beach......
The weather forcast said last night,
"The rain will finished tomorrow morning but it will be very cold."
But actually it was very warm today here in Shirahama.
As they had big wave here in Shirahama beach a lot of surfers came to this beach and most of parking lot were full.
How do you like this picture?
This morning when I waked up I thought,
"It will be a good condition for the picture today."
As I had to go to the beach to clean up with all of local people I waked up early and went to the beach.
After that I moved to the place behind Shirahama shrine and took this picture.....
Today it was very warm here in Shirahama.
Now it already is in December but it is not cold in these days.
When I went to the beach with my son there was nobody walking there on the beach and no surfers in the sea.
Because they didn't have good wave today.
Yes, it was very silent......
Today I went to the school to pick my daughter up with my son in late afternoon.
Before that we went to the beach to take pictures and could find clouds in the blue sky on the beach.
These clouds seemed like "Candy Floss", "Watagashi" or "Wataame" in Japanese.
In Shimoda we sometimes can see the beautiful clouds like this. .....
When I finished to clean up the guest roooms I was going to go for shopping with my son and go to the beach.
So I asked my son,
" Yuuki, why don't you go to the beach by car?"
And he answered,
"No, I want to take a walk with mam!!"
Then I went to the beach alone and found there was a people who was swimming today....

Today, as my wife had to wok her job my son, Yuuki and I went to the amusement park "Izu Bio Park" in Inatori town.
On the way to Inatori I took this picture as usual.
This is Shirahama Chuou Beach near Shimoda Prince Hotel.
I could see Izu Oshima island clearly today.
From Shirahama it takes about 25 mintues by car to Bio Park....

Today it was sunny and very warm here after 5 days in Shirahama.
I think blue sky and sea looks very good for this beach.
As it was weekend today there are many people on the beach and a lot of surfers in the sea.....
When I was in my home I didn't notice but .....
As I had to go to Post Office I depart from my house by car, and I found 4 ships on the ocean on the way to the Route 135.
In winter we sometimes have a strong wind from west, they have a strong wind like typhoon in Irozaki area.
That's why the ships which goes to Tokyo bay or Osaka bay wait here until the wind will be stopped......
In my house my wife usually prepare a breakfast and I cook a dinner everyday, but my wife seemed to catch a cold yesterday.
So I prepared the breakfast this morning instead of her.
In early morning when I waked up and saw outside through the window I found the red sky in the east.
"Oh, great!! I will be able to take pictures of sunrise this morning."
I cooked my daughter's breakfast and depart from my house by car.
When I got to the beach behind Shirahama shrine the sun was rising up on a horizon.....
Last week it had been almost cloudy, so we could not see a beautiful ocean and sky.
But it became sunny today in Shimoda.
When I went to Shimoda for shopping I could see gorgeous scenary and took this picture on the way to the Route 135.
Blue ocean, blue sky, white sand and island, this is a very good picture for the post card which I make....
Today it was very warm and beautiful day in Shimoda!!
That's why our guests went to the beach to swim.
Look at this!!
Before goint to Shimoda town for shopping I took this picture.
I could see a gorgeous beach like this after long time.

"We had big wave today!"
As our guest told me I went to the beach to take pictures with my son.
(My son was playing with sand while I was taking pictures.)
I didn't know that there were 2 typhoons in eastern area of Japan......
It was very beaufitul day today, so we went to Itado beach to spend good afternoon before going to shopping.
While I was playing for snorkeling my son, Yuuki was playing with my wife near the water.
But when I came back he took off all clothes because it was very hot today and my wife did it.
The water was still very warm here, so I could find many fishes in this area.....
This month it had been almost cloudy, sometimes rainy and a little sunny until today.
But we have gotten sunshine at last today after a long time.
A blue sea and blue sky gave us a beutiful day.
In addition it was very hot many people were in the water....
After picking my daughter up at the school we went to the beach today.
It was almost 5:00 pm but there were some people swimming in the water.
The weather forcast said yesterday, it would be cloudy.
But actually we got a sun and it was very hot here in Shirahama.
When we were going to come back home we could see a beautiful sunset....
When I finished my job for this morning I went to the beach with my son "Yuuki" to swim.
It was cloudy in the morning but it was changed, sunny in the afternoon.
I went to Shirahama shrine and leave my car at the parking lot, and got into the beach.
This place is behind Shirahama shrine and we can see "Torii" Red gate (?) on big rock.
Actually we can go to the another beach "Shirahama Chuou Beach" over that rock by walking....

This morning we, the local people of Shirahama area cleaned up the beadch from 6:00 am.
I was thinking there would be a lot of trashes on the beach, but actually there was no big trash after all.
Probably the typhoon brought them....
