"Why is it very cold today? It is already April!!"
My daughter said when she came back from the high school.
Yesterday it was sunny here in Shirahama, but it became rainy and windy today.
When I came back from Shimoda downtown I took this photo.
The strong wind brought the rain and I couldn't be outside for a long time to take this photo.
The weather forecast says it will be rainy tomorrow too.
When can we get a spring sunny day?
The weather forecast said,
"It was 26 degrees in Tokyo, but was more than 30 degrees in Okinawa today."
In Shimoda it was very warm, but was not hot today actually.
We had very big waves here in Shirahama, but it was not good condition for surfing.
The waves were hitting the rock which has a Red gate "Torii" on top.
It was very beautiful day today.
When I was cleaning up the guest rooms I could see a blue sea.
So I decided to go to the beach to take photos after shopping in Shimoda.
Yesterday we had a very strong west wind here in Shirahama, but it was very quiet on the beach today.
There were some people on the beach and they were looking the ships on the sea, and some of them got into the water.
A few days ago our guests who came from Italy and stayed at Sakuraya sent us an e-mail with a photo.
They stayed here for 4 nights from March 29th.
First of all their 2 years old child was a little shy with us, and said "La~ la~!".
I think it means "Go away!".
However he was not shy after 4 nights at all and come to the kitchen to see us.
He was sooooo cute!
We are looking forward to meeting you and your family again in the future.
I usually walk in the morning with my child when she goes to the school.
But as she had a spring holiday I didn't walk.
This morning I walked with her after 2 weeks.
After I walked to the primary school I went to the beach called "Shirahama Chuo Beach".
However I had a strong wind this morning it was very hard to walk on the beach....

We had an american family who stayed at Sakuraya on March 30th.
They stayed for only 1 night but they were very glad to stay and gave us this present.
This is called "Toffee-Ettes Cake" made by See's in California.
Here is a story from their web site below.
"Irresistible bite-size pieces of rich Danish butter toffee with whole almonds are smothered in See's creamy milk chocolate, then covered with bits of toasted almonds. Keep a canister on hand for unexpected guests or take one to the office."Of course it was a first time for us to eat it, but it was very delicious and we enjoyed this flavor!

Yesterday, our customers who stayed at Sakuraya called us late afternoon and said,
"Now we are near Mt. Amagi, but we have snow here. That's why we can't go ahead."
Yesterday afternoon my wife said when she came back from Shimoda downtown,
"It is very cold outside."
I didn't know such a condition outside, because I was cooking in warm kitchen then.
"How is snowing there?"
I asked our customers and he answered,
"It's all white here and every car stopped running. They can't move anymore due to a lot of snow."
In this season the cherry trees have blossoms in Izu peninsula, but they had more than 17 cm snow yesterday.
As always I walked around Shirahama area when my daughter went to the school this morning.
But I forgot my camera and couldn't take photos then.
So I went to Shirahama beach again around noon.
When I got into the beach there were some people seeing the ocean.
The water of the sea was blue and very clear under the sunshine today......

At 9:33 am on February Japan Meteorological Agency issued Tsunami warning due to an earthquake in Chile.
All Japan was made rush by this information yesterday.
My aunt who went to Tokyo the day before yesterday couldN7t come back to Shimoda because JR Tokaido Line stopped running due to Tusnami warning.
It usually takes about 2 hours and half to get to Shimoda from Tokyo, but it took more than 12 hours.
But we had only 50 or 60 cm Tsunami in Shimoda actually.
Izukyuko line runs along the seaside,so I understand if they stopped running.
But JR Tokaido line goes a little far from the sea.
Why are transport facilitiles in Japan so nervous?
"When are you going to make it, dad?"
My daughter, Hikari has been asking me about it since long time ago.
"OK, I'll do it tonight. Let's make it together."
Then I decided to do it with my daughter and son and started.
First of all we have to prepare the fruits for it, oranges, banana, peach, apple, yogurt and honey.
Recently my son Yuuki can peel well, so I asked him to peel an orange.....
Shirahama beach in Shimoda is one of good points for surfing.
We sometimes very good wave here, especially in September due to typhoon.
But today we had a very beautiful wave like this.
It looks twice as high as surfer in the water.
I don't understand why they are not afraid of big waves.
If I don't have a surf board I can't get into the water.
As always I went for walking this morning.
Today I came back home on route 135 and took some photos at Shirahama shrine.
There was nobody, but I found out a cherry tree full blooming.
Last night I checked the weather forecast for Shimoda and there was a sign of snow!
But we didn't have it today actually.
This winter we don't have snow in Izu peninsula.
I walked this morning after 3 days.
There is a parking lot on the left side of Shirahama post office.
And I found out some birds on the cherry trees there.
Some of them are blooming fully and white eyes come to suck nectar of these blossoms.
I wanted to take photos of them but they didn't stop jumping from the blossom to the others.
We had a very strong wind here in Shirahama yesterday, but it became sunny today.
So I went to the beach to take some photos.
I took this on the way to the beach.
The sea was very gorgeous and I could see Izu Oshima island over there.
Since I moved here I had seen this Shirahama beach a lot of times but I never get weary of looking at this blue sea.
I went to the beach to take photos after some days and could see the mountains over there.
When I ariived at bus stop "Shirahama Kaigan" I found out Mt. Amagi over the mountains.
Last night it was very cold here in Shimoda, so they had snow on top of mountain.
It was a first time to see snow on top this winter.
If I had enough time I could have gone there to see a lot of snow.
This morning I went to the primary school with my daughter and children for walking.
After we arrived at the school I went to Itado area in Shirahama alone.
When I was walking on the small road in the farmer's field ithe pink tree has appeared suddenly in front of me.
This tree has already had a lot of blossoms and buds.
This tree is called "Kawazu Sakura".
Next month we will have Kawazu Sakura festival around Shimoda.
It means one year would had already passed since last festival.
"Time flies like an arrow."

Today it was very cold here in Shirahama, but I went to Shimoda downtown by bycycle.
On the way to Shimoda there is a free parking lot called "Miharashi Hiroba".
I took this photo near this parking.
The air was very cold, but the water in the sea was clear!
It takes about 3 or 4 hours by car from Tokyo, but you can get this beautiful scenery if you come to Shimoda.
In Izu peninsula Sakura festival take place from the beginning on February.
This Sakura called "Kawazu Sakura" and this is one of Sakura which bloom early in the year.
We also have some Sakura trees in our field, and I found that one of them has a bud and it is just budding today.
This tree has buds more, so we are looking forward to see a full blooming with a lot of blossome next month.
This afternoon my wife gave me a letter.
There was a name of place "La Rochelle" and I rememberd a guest from France.
He was travelling in Japan by bycycle and came to Sakuraya alone on May 2008.
He stayed at Sakuraya for 4 nights then.
He said in this letter, " I have a dream to be back in your Pension Sakuraya someday with my wife and daughter".
Yes, we are looking forward to meeting you again.
This morning when I was walking with my daughter on the way to Shirahama elementary schlool, my daughter said,
"Look at this. It's frozen!"
Last night it was very cold in Shimoda, so the water drops on the leaves are frozen in the low temperature.
In these days we had cold days in Japan, and it snowed heavily in the north part of Japan.
But we don't have any snow in Shimoda.
"A Happy New Year" from Yamamoto family
In Japan most Japanese go to Shrine at the beginning of new year to pray our health, good future and something else.
Today we also went to Shirahama Shrine.We didn't have a strong wind and a little warm here in Shimoda.
There were some cars in the shrine's parking lot.
After praying we took a photo of ourselves in front of shrine building.
I think that we are very happy because we are keeping our health.

When I came back from Shimoda downtown I found out this scene this late afternoon.
I parked my car on the road and took this picture.
The moon has just rose up and the moon light was coming down on the sea.
It was very beautiful.
It was sunny in Shimoda today.
When I was cleaning in the building it was very hot and broke out the sweat on my forehead.
When I went out for shopping I took this picture near the beach.
The water was blue and clear.
I wanted to swim today if I didn't have to work.
In Shirahama we can see many kinds of beautiful scenery, but this is one of them.
I took this photo at around 5:50 in the morning on September 25th.
Shirahama is located on the west side of Izu peninsula, so we can see a sunrise but we can't see a sunset on the ocean.

"Are you going to swim tomorrow?"
"No. But is it possible to swim here in this season?"
I asked our guests who checked-in yesterday, but they didn't bring their swim wear.
The weather forecast said it would be cloudy today, but it became sunny and hot after 10:00 in the morning.
There were a lot of people on the beach today, because now we are in the national holidays in Japan.
It was rainy all day long yesterday.
The guests who came from Germany changed their schedule and decided to stay longer.
"You are lucky" We can swim today!"
"Yes. We came to Shimoda for swimming, so we don't want to say good bye without swimming.
There were many people on the beach today.
The day before yesterday the typhoon has gone away on the Pacific ocean near Japan.
So we had a strong wind and heavy rain here in Shirahama.
But today it became sunny and very hot.
It was good day for swimming here.
"I want to play a snorkeling, but are there any good points nearby?"
"Well, there are some good points in Shimoda. But we don't recommend you Shirahama beach because of the big waves and the north-west wind."
Our guest asked me this morning and I recommended them this island in Shimoda.
This is called "Ebisu-jima" in Japanese. It is located in Suzaki peninsula near Shimoda downtown.......
Today it was Sunday.
we had a north-west wind here in Shirahama, but there were a lot of people on the beach.
They were swimming, sleeping, walking and playing on the beach under the sun.
