I would like to say a few things about these 'life savers'.
They are out of control on a power trip. How can the japanese people let themselves be dominated and humiliated by these control freaks. Everytime I visit the beach in summer my day is ruined by these 'life savers' who bull horn people and enforce their petty rules. How can a bunch of kids be given the power to dominate adult people - this is sick. They are life savers and should stay back and leave poeple alone and just be there should somebody need help.
Being a surfer I have visited Izu hundreds of times, mainly not in July or August because of the 'life saver' harrassment. I have decided however to never visit Izu again after my last trip to Shirahama beach in August this year - I had two major arguments with the 'beach police' who were shouting at my daughter who was body boarding without fins - who the f**k are they to decide you cant body board without fins. Anyway after doing a bit of research it seems these nazis have the law backing them up should it come to it and behind that it is actually the local government that decides this stuff, so I will never go to Izu again and spend my money there.
Thank you, yes please do, they need to know people resent their harrassment and they are causing bad feeling - people go to the beach to relax and have fun, I'm sure everything would be ok (like it is everywhere else in the world) if they just sat back and generally not interfere unless somebody is doing something that is really dangerous to themselves or others.
