This weekend we had a lot of snow in Kanto area in Japan.
This picture is from Live Camera of Amagi mountain.
Izu peninsula is very warm even in winter, but every winter they have a lot of snow some times, because the highest point of Amagi mountains is about 1,400 meters high.
But we don't have snow in Shirahama, Shimoda in this condition.

This morning we had a strong wind like a storm here in Shirahama.
When we have a strong wind I take my son to the school by car.
I took this picture on the way home.
The sand was blown off by wind to the road.
Last weekend we closed our Pension and had a new year holiday at my wife's home in Chigasaki city.
Chigasaki and neighbor city, Fuiisawa, are bigger than Shimoda city, and there are some big shopping mall.
My wife and my daughters were excited with shopping there, but my son and I went to the movie theater to watch the movie "Kamen Rider", a Japanese TV hero.
We stayed for 3 nigths in Chigasaki and could have a very good time and were relaxed at my wife's faimly home.
By the way I took this picture on Shirahama beach this morning.
It is sunny here in Shimoda, but still cold.
I restarted walking from January 6th.
This morning I walked again with the neighbor children.
It was very cold here in Shirahama, but we could see the Amagi mountains and the Izu seven island clearly on the way to school.

When I was going to prepare our diner I found out that the western sky was glowing with the splendor of the setting sun.
So I went to the beach to take pictures.
I could take a lot of pictures on the beach.
My children started the 3rd period of school from today.
So I took my daughters to school by my car this morning.
When we went down the hill from our hotel we could see the beutiful scenery.
The sun light made the golden rays on the horizon.
Every time we can see such a gorgeous picturesque view it makes us happy!

This afternoon I went to Shirahama shrine with my family.
It was a first vist of this year for us.
We, Japanese visit shrine at the beginning of new year to pray our health and happiness.
As we are in the new year holiday there were a lot of people there.

Last year we had a lot of problems afte the earthquake and the nuclear accident.
But I appriciate very mush we can greet the new year with my family.
May this new year turn out to be the happiest and the best for you.
It was very warm here in Shimoda today even in winter.
There were some people walking on the beach and watching the sea this afternoon.
We appreciate very much everything this year and wish you a Happy New Year.
We are looking forward to meeting you in Shimoda again.

It was a very beautiful day today again, and the air was clear.
We could see the Izu seven islands on the horizon.
There were some freighters on the sea, which came here to protect themselves from the strong west wind.
It had been cloudy and very cold here in Shimoda on last 2 days, but it became sunny and very warm today.
The family who came from Canada checked out this morning, and they went to Shimoda park before leaving Shimoda.
I think they could see the Izu seven islands from the view point of Shimoda park today.

This morning I took my daughter to school as usual.
On the way home I took this picture at Shirahama Beach.
It was very cold here this moring, but the air was very clear.
In this season we sometimes can see the Izu seven islands on the horizon clearly.
This morning I took my daughter to the school and went to Shimoda downtown after thatn.
When I was driving in downtown I found out the dried fishes out of shop on the road.
I asked him to take pictures, and he told me that he waked up at 2:00 am every day.
"Every day?"
I said and he answered.
"Yes, because I have to start to make dried fishes to provide them to the travellers before noon."
"Really?"......
When I was taking pictures near the beach this morning I foud out my daughter was going to school.
She usually takes bike to go to the high school like this.
It takes about 1 hour, because she walks pushing her bike with her hands when she goes up the hill on the way to Shimoda town.
In addition, as we had strong west wind this morning it was very hard for her, because she had strong head wind from Sotoura beach to the downtown.

I took this picture on the way to the school to take my daughter this morning.
Today we could see the Amagi moutains clearly, but we had strong wind like a storm in Shirahama, and the sea was rough.
In this season the fishermem go to the sea to fish Iseebi lobster, but they can't do it under this condition today.
Yesterday there were some surfers in the water.
We can see the surfers even in winter in Shimoda, and I was thinking it is too cold to surf.
But the water temperature is higher than the air, so there is no problem for surfers to get into the water.
If you had a wet suit you could snorkel in Shimoda in this season!
If you don't have it you can rent it at the surf shop "Shirahama Marina" in Shirahama.
Today it was sunny again in Shimoda.
We had a little bit wind here in Shirahama but it was warm.
By the way, we had Long distance running competition at Shirahama primary school.
This marathon takes place on every December and a lot of parents and local peole come to school to support and cheer them.
This competition started at 9:20 AM.....

On last Thursday and Friday we had strong wind and heavy rain like storm here in Shimoda.
But today it was beautiful and we could see the blue sky and sea after long time.
When I went to Shimoda dowmtown with my son I took some pictures on the beach.
The strong wind brought the sand from the beach to the road like this.

Last week we cleaned the dining room.
After I put the tabels and the chairs out of dining room my son came back from school.
"Wao!"
He was excited and started to run around and jump in this room.

Today my daughter had a game of ping pong at junior high school in Minami Izu town, so I took her with my son.
During her games, as we had 3 hours my son and I drove to southern part of Izu peninsula.
We saw the fisherman left for Ise ebi fishing from small fisherman's port.
They put the lobster net in the sea from now and will pull up them at around 4 or 5 AM tomorrow.
The period of lobster fishing is between September and May in Izu peninsula.
After school I went to the beach with my son as usual.
Yesterday we had very strong west wind here in Shimoda.
This morning we still had a little wind, but the wind was stopped after that and the sky was very clear.
We could see the Izu Seven Islands over the ocean.
My son was playing shooting his shoe!
Today we had strong west wind here in Shimoda.
When I went shopping I took this picture on the way to the beach.
We could see clear bule sea and Izu Oshima Island over the ocean.
From this season we sometimes have cold west wind, and we can see the boats which come to this sea to protect them from the strong wind.
Becuase they have more than 30 or 40 m/s wind at around Irozaki cape.
Too dangerous for them it is!

After school I went to pick up my son and went to the beach this late afternoon.
Before getting into the beach my son found out something and start running.
"Look at this, dad!" he said and licked it......
Yesterday the weather forecast said it would be colder, but it was not so cold today actually.
However we could see the Izu Oshima Island clearly from Sakuraya on the hill because the air, the sky and everything is getting into winter.
After school I went to pick up my son and went to the beach together.
This is "Shirahama Chuo Beach" next to "Shirahama Ohama Beach" which is the nearest one.
My son and I walked on the beach for a while. ( The small person in this picture is my son!)
Yesterday we had strong wind and heavy rain here in Shimoda.
It was almost typhoon, but we didn't have any problem with it.
Today the weather was changed!
We could see the blue sky and sea this morning, so I decided to go to the nearest beach "Shirahama" with my son this afternoon.
I am a member of Izu Shirahama Tourist association.
Today we went to Itado area in Shirahama to clean up the Aloe field.
There are a lot of Aloe on a hill, and we can see Shirahama beach from this hill.
The Aloe festival will take place from December 9th.
This field is one of good points for the pictures, because the contrast of blue cloor of sea and red one of Aloe is very gorgeous.

Today my son finished school at 2:30 PM.
As usual I went to pick up my son after school, and went to the beach together.
We played making art of shadow and hand writing on the sand.
It was fun!
Today it was sunny again, but warmer than yesterday.
I went to Shimoda downtown by bike this afternoon.
On the way to the downtown my bike chain was out of place, so I tried to fix it.
Then I found out a ladybug on the leaves along the street.
As it was very warm today, so was she sleeping under the sunshine?
No, she wanted to run away from me actually!
This week and next week we have birthdays of my daughters, so we had a party tonight.
My first daughter has turned seventeen and my second daughter will turn fourteen next week.
"Time flies like an arrow"
They are getting older very soon.
