2014/06/22 Thank you for staying.

They came from Shanghai and stayed for 2 nights.

It was a first time for them to vist Japan and came to Shimoda after some places.

They went to the beach, and went to Shimoda to see Hydrangea Festival and to eat Red Snapper.

We look forward to meeting you someday again.

2014/06/21 Shirahama Beach today

It was cloudy all day here in Shirahama today.

There are a lot of kinds of flowers on the slope in front of Pension Sakuraya.

And we can see beautiful flowers blooming in each season.

I went to the nearest beach "Shirahama Beach" to take pictures.

There were a lot of people on the beach, It was cloudy though.

Some of them were surfing, walking, sleeping, and swimming.

2014/06/19 Homemade Plum Wine

We have 3 plum trees in our garden, and we make plum wine in every June.

Last week we picked them up, and my wife and I made wine yesterday.

We serve our customers the plum wine which we made 10 years ago.

It means we will be able to drink the wine which we made yesterday at least 10 years later.

See you then!

 

2014/06/15 Thank you for staying!

They are from the United States and live in Yokosuka city, Kanagawa Prefecture.

One of them have come to Shimoda 6 times last year, but the other people came to Shimoda for the 1st time.

I had been worrying about the weather before they came, but actually they had perfect days for the beach this past weekend.

We are looking forwared to meeting you again in September!

2014/06/13 Full Moon View from Pension Sakuraya

We had the full moon tonight.

I could take pictures from the terrace of Pension Sakuraya.

It was really gorgeous!!

 

 

 

2014/06/13 Shirahama Beach today

I went to the beach after school after a long time.

After rainy days we sometimes have good waves in Shirahama.

We had a little strong west wind, but it was very hot today.

 

There were some surfers on the beach because of the good waves.

They weather forecast says it will be sunny again.

2014/06/08 It's almost summer here in Shimoda!

It's beautiful day and very hot here in Shirahama this morning.

Yes, it's almost summer!!

But the south wind makes us very comfortable.

 

 

 

After I took my daughter to the shool by car I took this picture at the beach.

As I don't have enough time I could not wait for the good wave, but they sometimes had very nice waves for surging this morning.

2014/06/07 Blue Sky was back!!

The operation of Izukyuko line was regulated by the heavy rain this morning, and all of train serveces on this line were stopped.

And also this rain prevented some of high school studens from going to school.

But the trains resumed its operation before noon.

After the raining stopped I went to the nearest beach "Shirahama".

I could see the beautiful blue sky after a long time.

 

2014/06/07 Japanese room of Pension Sakuraya

We are ready for check-in now.

2014/06/06 Shirahama Beach today

It had been raining since yesterday morning, but the rain has just stopped at aound 8:00 this morning.

When I went to the beach there were a lot of seaweeds on Shirahama Ohama beach, which were brought by strong wind and big waves from the sea.

On the other hand, there was no seaweeds on Shirahama Chuo Beach.

Do you know why?

Shirahama Ohama Beach is located in the southern part of Shirahama, and we had had strong north wind since yesterday morning.

That's why a lot of seaweeds were brought by this strong wind, I guess.

2014/06/04 Hydrangea in our garden

The hydrangea in our garden is getting colored day after day.

Do you know the color of hydrangea is different depending on the gredients of soil is acid or alkaline?

2014/06/01 Foggy sea in Shimoda

It was sunny and very hot here in Shimoda today.

When I went to the nearest beach "Shirahama" this afternoon I could see not only some people walking and swimming on the beach and also the sign of....

 

 

I went to Shimoda afte that.

When I arrived in Shimoda I was really surprised the scenery there.

 

 

 

It was a first time for me to see the foggy sea at Shimoda harbor. I couldn't see anything over the sea.

2014/05/31 Sand Art Comtetition

The sand art cometition of Shirahama primary school was held by PTA this afternoon as an anual event.

All of school students participated this competition and the parents supported their children.

It was sunny but not very hot, so this is good condition for sand working.

After that my son and I came back home by walking on the beach.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2014/05/30 Shirahama Beach today

We had a little strong west wind, but it was very hot under the sun shine.

When I was walking on the beach I took this picture behind Shirahama shrine.

That rock looks like a big ship or submarine, I think.

This is one of beautiful scenery in Shirahama.

2014/05/29 Blue sea in Shirrahama and twilight time in Shimoda

It was sunny and very hot here in Shirahama today.

I went to the nearest beach "Shirahama" this afternoon.

The sea water was shining under the sun light.

 

 

 

And I went to Shimoda city by bicycle this later afternoon.

The sun had already set in the western mountain, but the city was beautiful in the evening twilight time.

2014/05/28 Loquat tree (Biwa in Japanese) in our garden

There is a big tree of loquat in our garden next to Sakuraya's building.

Every June we can get this fruit, but now they are getting colored!

We are really looking forward to eating it and making Loquat wine (Biwa-shu).

2014/05/27 Foggy mountain in Shirahama

We had heavy rain and strong wind here in Shirahama last night.

After I took my child to the school I took this picture this morning.

The rain had already stopped, but I could see the foggy mountains.

They are from the United States and live in Tokyo.

They have come to Shimoda twice before and this time they stayed in Shirahama for the 1st time.

One of them is now expected and she will have a new family next month.

They are from India and live in Tokyo.

It was a first time for them to come to Izu peninsula.

They went to Jogasaki on the 1st day and went to Irozaki cape and Seven waterfalls after they checked out on the 2nd day.

This is a small fisherman's port in Shirahama, called Itami.

When I went there this afternoon there were some people who were fishing.

When we have rain in the morning I take my children to their school by car.

2014/05/22 Shimoda city in the late afternoon

When I went to Shimoda, the sun had already sunk in the west.

But it was beautiful time.

2014/05/21 Izu Seven Islands on the Pacific Ocean

I walked on the seaside roadn this afternoon.

This morning we had heavy rain and strong wind here in Shimoda, but it became sunny and the blue sky came back after that.

After storm passed away we sometimes can see the Izu Seven Islands clearly.

By the way, do you know that Izu Seven islands are owned by Tokyo?

2014/05/21 Shirahama Beach this morning

AS we had heavy rain and strong wind I took my children to their school this morning.

I took this picture at Itami fisherman's port in Shirahama.

When I was taking pictures I was about to be blown away by the very strong wind!

2014/05/20 Low tide at Shirahama Beach

I took this picture behind Shirahama shrine this afternoon.

We had low tide at around 2:00 PM today.

When we have lowest tide we can walk on the beach to the other side.

There is another beach "Shirahama Chuo Beach".

2014/05/18 The most beautiful day in these days

It has been sunny since last Friday, but it was the most beautiful day of this weekend today.

We didn't have wind and we could see Izu Oshima island clearly from the terrace of Pension Sakuraya.

There are many kinds of flower around Pension Sakuraya and the flowers are now blooming.

Yes, the summer has come here in Shimoda!

By the way, this is our son, Yuuki.

He was putting on the his elder sister's hut.

They came from Yokosuka in Kanagawa prefecture and stayed at Pension Sakuraya for 3 nights.

As we had sunny days this weekend I think it was good holidays for them.

When they checked-out she said that she prefered B&B like our Pension than the resort hotels.

We are very glad to hear this!!

They came to Shimoda for Black Ship Festival for the 1st time, and stayed for 3 nights.

2014/05/16 The 75th Black Ship Festival Fireworks Display

The Black Ship Festival started today, and the fireworks display took place from 8:15 PM at Shimoda harbor.

When the display started the moon came up!!

Yes, it was very good timing!
